Ring gear

The flywheel ring gear assembly is a connecting piece that transfers power from the starter to the crankshaft, and its main function is to achieve power transmission between the starter and the crankshaft. It provides inertia for the engine. The flywheel is a disk with a large amount of rotational inertia, installed on the rear flange of the engine crankshaft. A ring gear is pressed on the outer edge of the flywheel, which can mesh with the drive gear of the starter, and behind it is a joint surface of the clutch.
